When I was a teacher ...

The experience of being a teacher that I got a while ago is a valuable experience and worth remembering. Not everyone gets to have that kind of experience. But when I first got that task from Mam Agnes I was a little bit afraid because in my whole life I’ve never done such kind a thing. Luckily, this project wasn’t done alone, but within a group that consist two people. Me and Theodora finally decided to work together. We both faced a difficult task in choosing the topic. It has to connected with history, and many people say that history is a boring subject and make people sleepy.

A few days after we were given that task, we finally decided to explain about “Trowulan: The Lost Metropolitan City of Indonesia”. This topic is connected with the Majapahit Kingdom, but not about the rise and the fall of its kingdom, the golden its, or the popular king. We explained about the housing, housing cluster, wonder of metropolitan, reservoir system, and canal network system during that ancient time.

Besides giving a presentation, to make our students  awake during the entire presentatation we showed some pictures for them too. To make it even clearer, we showed two videos about the Majapahit Kingdom. The videos told at that time Majapahit Kingdom was very rich and Majapahit’s architecture built such neat, modern, and environmental friendly city. Other than just giving a presentation about Trowulan, I and Theodora arranged a game that has something to do with what we are explaining at that time. When the game was underway the class divided into three groups. Students who participates in that game were very enthusiastic  because if a group losses than that group would be given a punishment.

 I think, the problem I faced when teaching was explaining with English, so that my students could understand what I am explaining about and so they would not get bored. But after I’ve already finish my presentation, I felt that being a teacher isn’t as simple as I taught it would be. So I’m sorry to my teachers for all this time I was being a naughty student.
